India
India has been the biggest market for recycling ships. Most of the recycling is done in Alang on the west coast of India.
Bangladesh
The recycling of ships is done at Chittagong which has about 50 ship recycling yards.
Pakistan
The recycling of ships is done at Karachi/Gadani which have about 25 ship recycling yards.
China
In China, ship recycling activity takes place in the Shanghai (North China) and Xinhui (South China) areas. China is the only country that does not practice beaching methods of recycling.
